. . .
moved content indexing options to advanced.
. . .
Why? I liked to use this on Quarterly financial statements to browse through the PDFs from the last quarter. The next day, I would remove it again.
Using the Advanced tab is ... confusing.
Thanks for reading, flubber
Nothing has changed for content indexing.
Only the place where the config is made.
No one does change these settings all the time.
So what's the problem ?

An option would be, for example, to change the setting in the Everything.ini file (after that, Everything will restart):
content_indexing_enabled=1 ENABLE content indexing
content_indexing_enabled=0 DISABLE content indexing content_indexing_enabled

For me its easier to select the folders in a dialog window
as before in the list editor.
For yet every Folder you have to copy and paste the path.
Sorry - but with over 20 folders its not user friendly...
Or is there a solution with a list editor in the future?

Not like it took much space and it's a big feature so it should've remained among the other larger features.
At least the menu for adding stuff still works the same and you're not stuck to writing on one line like it looks
Can still drag paths in if need be, make filters and such.
Very handy if you content index using other methods like Windows Search, but can't wildcard filter files that end with unique stuff like Notepad++ in-progress backups. @[date]. Not that I checked if you can wildcard in WS..
I just spent ~2 hours getting a little familiar with Everything from a server / client perspective in a domain setting.
Specifically focused on content indexing and quick search.
Bit bummed.
Centralized content indexing works with ETP but with only 1 global unencrypted authentication. So rules that out.
The everything server protocol offers the user based index control with encrypted auth which is great. BUT no content indexing.
And doing context indexing on each client over the network SMB is bad mojo. Huge load over network which is what indexing is suppose to bypass.
Please consider adding content index queries to centralized server DB over everything protocol. Thank you! TTFN!
