content indexing

Post by flubber »

Hi!
[1416b] 2nd July 2026
. . .
moved content indexing options to advanced.
. . .
Why? I liked to use this on Quarterly financial statements to browse through the PDFs from the last quarter. The next day, I would remove it again.

Using the Advanced tab is ... confusing.

Thanks for reading, flubber

Nothing has changed for content indexing.
Only the place where the config is made.
No one does change these settings all the time.
So what's the problem ?

I don't have a 1416b instance set up, what does it look like?

It reads like it's now unnecessarily tedious to modify content indexing settings.

An option would be, for example, to change the setting in the Everything.ini file (after that, Everything will restart):
content_indexing_enabled=1   ENABLE content indexing
content_indexing_enabled=0   DISABLE content indexing
content_indexing_enabled

For me its easier to select the folders in a dialog window
as before in the list editor.
For yet every Folder you have to copy and paste the path.
Sorry - but with over 20 folders its not user friendly...
Or is there a solution with a list editor in the future?

Thank you for your feedback dagobert0815,

I will add an "Edit..." button to show the list editor.
Thank you for the suggestion.

Everything 1.5.0.1420b adds an Edit... button to add folders/files to advanced lists.

Hi,

I use Version 1.5.0.1422b (x64)

I miss there the option [Tool] ➜ [Option] ➜ [Indexes] ➜ [Content]

content.indexing.png
.
2026-08-19 20_46_29-Options - Everything.png
.
It is only on my computer or, what do I wrong or ist it removed?

Thanks for help.
Andy

Everything is primarily a filename search engine.

Content indexing options have moved to the advanced options.
