I know I can do something like "tax !lnk" to exclude the ".lnk" files from my search results.
How can I set this as a default condition so I don't have to type it in each time?
Thanks.

If you don't want .lnk to show up, exclude.
Tools | Options | Indexes -> Exclude --> Enable ---> Exclude files:
See if *.lnk does it?
