Search Everything (including Properties)

Post by GabrielGG »

Hello,

I'm a complete newbee and we are testing Everything in our Office.

We have important information in the Properties I was trying to find a way to search all the fields as a default option.
If this is not possible, can somebody tell me how to create a filter or a Bookmark to achieve this?

As I said, I'm a complete newbee, please make detailed instructions. I have NO PROGRAMMING EXPERIENCE or with this Software at all.

Thaks in advance!

What properties would you like to search by default?

Please make sure these properties are added to your index:
  • In Everything 1.5, from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the Properties tab on the left.
  • Click Add....
  • Select a desired property and click OK.
    (repeat for additional desired properties)
  • Click OK.

To create a filter that searches filenames and properties:
  • In Everything, from the Search menu, click Add to filters....
  • Change the Name to:
    Filename and properties
  • Change the Search to:
    <$param:> | comment:<$param:> | title:<$param:>

Adjust comment and title to your desired properties.
  • Click OK.
Activate this filter.
Filters can be activated from the Search menu, Filter bar (View -> Filter Bar), Filter sidebar (View -> Filters), right clicking the status bar, filter macro or filter keyboard shortcut.
Filters can be organized from Search menu -> Organize filters.
The active filter is shown in the status bar on the right.
