For the searchbar you can drop the droplist and as you type it filters your search history.
* I think it would be effective to add the bookmark titles also into this so that it's a combined search (perhaps an option to choose to do so)
* When the filter shows nothing (either through overtyping or reducing typing to zero length) the droplist then goes and has to be dropped again, I think it should stay open so it's still there if you overtype and backtrack or delete to zero length and type more.

Re: Searchbar drop-history - combine bookmarks / over- or under-type keeps the droplist
I like the idea of showing bookmark searches in the search history drop-down list.
Bookmark names could also work, but I think I would have to list them as bookmark:<bookmark-name>
I have put on my TODO list to add options to include bookmarks in the search history drop-down list.
I have put on my TODO list to bring the drop-down list back up after clearing the search. -Like Firefox and other web browsers.
Thank you for the suggestion.
