Greetings,
My index stopped updating with new files added or modified. It does seem to update a few files that are added to single external volume (all volumes are NTFS), but that's all. I rebuilt the index and the recent files still do not show up in searches.
reinstalled Everything, and it still doesn't seem to work.
The Index tab setting under NTFS look okay.
I'm Using version 1.4.1.1017(x685)
Thanks in advance for help.
Index not updating
Re: Index not updating
Please make sure Everything is installed correctly and running as a standard user:
Please make sure the Everything filter is active under the Search menu.
Please make sure these files are not excluded from Tools -> Options -> Exclude.
Does the issue persist?
- In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
- Click the General tab on the left.
- Check Store settings and data in %APPDATA%\Everything.
- Uncheck Run as administrator.
- Check Everything Service. (Please make sure this is tick-checked and not square-checked)
- Click OK.
- Exit Everything (right click the Everything tray icon and click Exit).
- Restart Everything.
- In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
- Click the Indexes tab on the left.
- Click Force Rebuild.
- Click OK.

Re: Index not updating
I have the same problem, i.e. Everything stopped updating search results in real time. As to indexing in real time, one more remark: when I attach an external USB disc, whether previously indexed by Everything, or not, Everything starts indexing the disc just attached to my PC, and I consider it OK.
I open Everything as application when I need to search files. In addition, Everything is also running as service. All fields mentioned by you are tick-checked except "Check Store settings and data in %APPDATA%\Everything". The latter is not tick-cheked because I want to have all Everything data, including its database, kept in the folder of the program, which I run as portable stored on an external USB disk attached to my PC at all times. The reason for such configuration is that I want to avoid data loss, should the main system disc crash.
Your advice will be welcome.

Re: Index not updating
Could you please send some debug output?
- In Everything, type in the following search and press ENTER:
/debug_log - Create a new file or change an existing file on one of your drives.
--please wait for 1 minute, this will ensure any found issues are captured in the log-- - In Everything, From the File menu, click Exit.
- Restart Everything.
- Could you please send your %TEMP%\Everything Debug Log.txt to support@voidtools.com
Re: Index not updating
Thanks for your reply, still more that you are busy with a commercial project. I keep my fingers crossed for the successful development of your project.
My problem has been saved as in the meantime I found an advice in the net: I ticked-off "Start ET with the system", reset the PC, then ticked-in the same option and again reset my PC. Since then ET has been working as expected. I do not know why, but the procedure helped to solve the problem.
However, as the forum is a public good, I understand that your further advice based on my log might occur helpful to other users, I may send you my log according to your advice. I am not sure, however, whether it will be suitable for you, because ET now works like a charm. Let me know, if my log might be suitable for you to provide a general advice to other users. Rgds.
