Hi,
Is there a way to have search results initially appear sorted based on a user's set preferences? For example, if indexing an entire system drive I might light to have the results from the documents folder at the top, and those from the %appdata% folder towards the bottom. It would be a nice touch if users could set this somehow as a preference.
This may have been covered previously but I haven't found it yet.
Using Everything 1.4.1 arm64 windows 11.
Thank you.
Ari

Re: Auto sort search results based on user preferences
It's not possible to rank certain folders with Everything 1.4.
Consider excluding unwanted folders under Tools -> Options -> Exclude.
For Everything 1.5, create a filter to rank folders:
Filters can be organized from Search menu -> Organize filters.
The active filter is shown in the status bar on the right.
Everything also has result omissions to temporarily hide folders like %APPDATA%.
Consider excluding unwanted folders under Tools -> Options -> Exclude.
For Everything 1.5, create a filter to rank folders:
- In Everything, from the Search menu, click Add to filters....
- Change the Name to:
Rank Folders - Change the Search to:
<<\documents a:=0> | <!%APPDATA% a:=1> | <a:=2>> sort:a - Click OK.
Filters can be organized from Search menu -> Organize filters.
The active filter is shown in the status bar on the right.

OK thanks, great to see the feature will be included in Everything 1.5.
I'll wait until it's out of beta.
Thanks for the great product.

Hello adoucette,
please do not hesitate to start using version 1.5 (beta) of the program. It contains no visible bugs; the only reason it remains in the "beta" phase is that there are still a few pending items in the queue—once those are addressed, it will officially exit the beta stage. For your information, the software successfully passed through 173 versions during the alpha phase, and 14 versions have already been released in the current beta phase. Throughout this process, numerous features have been added alongside bug fixes. I believe this single point alone should convince you to move on from version 1.4 and upgrade to version 1.5: in version 1.5, over 1,300 attributes have been defined for files (some by Microsoft, others by David). You can easily add any number of these compelling attributes as columns in the program—it offers stunning display capabilities compared to version 1.4. In this image, you can catch a glimpse of the true power of version 1.5. I hope that David will eventually feature an image like this right next to the download link on the website, so that users might fall in love with the software the moment they see it.
best regards
