HOW TO SEACH A NAME AND EXTENTION?

To search for .jpg files, include the following in your search:

*.jpg

To find filenames containing stone with a .jpg extension, search for:

stone *.jpg

I am very new to this search program and trying toget my head round it I want to serch for a name and a extention stone.jpg what would i put for that?

you can type the name and extension in the search bar, so just

stone.jpg

should return every file with that specific name. if you search for a specific name and extension and don't see a file that is known to exist, it might be sitting in a drive that is not being indexed.

also if i wnat it to seach fro one drive only the last thing is there any where I can go to see exaples of this working

you can limit any search to a specific drive by starting your search with the drive letter. for example, if you have multiple stone.jpg files in different drives, and you only want to show files from C: all you need to do is search for

c: stone.jpg

if you search for

c:

for example, it will rule out any other folders/files in other drives, and show all existing folders/files in C:
