Everything Service's 'Number' may not reflect Everything version

Everything Service's 'Number' (if there is such a thing) may not reflect Everything's version number.


Service shows as a "quasi" 1389/1390
or is it 1389 in a 1390 directory?


typically what i do before "installing" new version...

- Quit (all -instances)
- Copy existing "instalDir" (numerically numbered) to current version (numerically numbered)
so i had /1389/ & i copy that to /1390/
at that point, /1389/ & /1390/ are identical


then i either
- Everything.exe -uninstall-service (from within /1389/ dir)
or
- Copy Everything.exe (1390) into /1390/, & then
- Everything.exe -uninstall-service (from within /1390/ dir)

so... i may have used either 1389.exe or 1390.exe to do the -uninstall-service
then, if i had not already done so above, i Copy 1390.exe into /1390/ dir

- Everything.exe -install-service (from within 1390 dir)
at that point, Everything Service is (again) running.


now, depending on which way i went about it above,
uninstall with 1389.exe, install with 1390.exe,
or
uninstall with 1390.exe, install with 1390.exe,
if i look at the Service, & even though 1390.exe /was/ used to do the -install-service,
i get an odd display(?) of the service, as if it were still 1389
(well, as far as i can make of it)


if i then (& all with 1390.exe)
-uninstall-service
then
-install-service
the Service then /displays?/ correctly

& i'll note, that i actually get two (time separated, a second or so) notifications
of an -uninstall-service ?

Everything - Service (change) notification displays 2x.png

maybe it is an idiosyncransy of the System Informer program?
(as in i also don't know how that "2nd" SI icon ended up there [shot #2], as it is "not" [there]
- maybe it was there momentarily, too short for the eye to catch?)


(i didn't see any such "version number" noted from within Windows Services itself.)

You only need one Service running
regardless of the number of Client instances.

If and as long as Everything 1.5 Alpha is used, you can create the file: NO_ALPHA_INSTANCE (without file extension)
in the program directory.

Then the 'Everything Service' will always be called 'Everything', even with multiple instances or versions.

In my opinion, uninstalling the 'Everything Service' due to a version change is also not necessary at the moment.
I am aware of two solutions in which the Everything Service is only temporarily stopped but not uninstalled:

1. Everything.ini

stop_service_on_exit=1

   - OR -

2. Bookmark with Keyboard shortcut: ALT+X (my preferred variant)
   Search Custom:

   /stop-service
   /exit

I only have 1 running.
But when I -uninstall-service (System Informer) seems to indicate that the deletion occurred twice.
At least it displays the "Service Deleted" message, twice.
