An option of turning off "Snap to Grid."

When "View" is set to any of the four icon settings, the icons automatically snap to an alignment grid. This prevents a user from moving his icons into an arrangement he might prefer. As a suggestion, could there be an option to turn off "Snap to Grid?" David, I sent you an eMail about this suggestion before I discovered this forum.

Unfortunately, there's no way to turn off this thumbnail alignment in Everything.

Thumbnails are always shown in a fixed position and cannot be moved.
