Is there a ready made filter or bookmark for users to search and open their mails ?

Post by shodan »

I use outlook, thunderbird and gmail for mail.

I am curious if it is possible at all to search your mail with everything ?

I found this earlier post about it

viewtopic.php?t=362

But I don't quite understand how that works.

Most people I have introduced everything to, absolutely love it.

I would love to easily set them up with a search email function while I'm at it.

But I don't know enough about each mail client to do that seamlessly.
Maybe if there were ready made filters or bookmarks for each popular clients (and data dumps)

(In the case of cloud based mail, using a data dump like https://takeout.google.com and then there could be a everything filter or bookmark to search it ?)

On the same note, the content search functionality

For instance *.txt content:"first search term" content:"second search term"
Is extremely powerful but buried quite deep. I have been using everything for probably 10 years and only this year did I discover this functionality !
I think there should be a filter or bookmark to tutorialize the users on its usage !

Everything 1.5 will have support for searching eml files.

For example:

*.eml content:"john smith"
to:"john smith"
from:"david carpenter"

The following will also work with Everything 1.4:
*.eml content:"john smith"

However, the stock eml iFilter will modify your eml files. (even when you are only reading eml properties/content)

Outlook *.msg - Content searching in Everything 1.5a - Content Indexing
Setup content indexing wrote: Everything will keep content in memory.
Content indexing is intended for indexing user documents only.
I do not recommend indexing over 1GB of text.
For the best performance, set an include only folder.
