Sort of, which is some help as a thought, but it presumes the files being edited are all nicely in one place otherwise you have to keep pressing F2 a lot in order to get into that mode.
I'm thinking the mode I'd suggested would be pretty straightforward code-wise, equivalent to 3 clicks in the spot ...

when you type content: it starts searching through contents for a zero-length string, which is a redundant action, I think content: should be ignored if its parameter has no length, and only start looking when there is a parameter.

I recall separate programs to do this, which could be added as a folder right-click.
Other option is to have somewhere a window of tiny thumbnails to force a large number to thumb.
I would add that thumbnail creation on my computer slows down considerably when too many pictures have been thumbed ...

One additional point about a seggregated view, is that you see all the files. If you had views you switch between to try to get something similar, then it will be easy to forget there are other files present in the folder.

I use the tab to go from one item rename to the next all the time, I simply would die without it :) :) Its use becomes apparent when you want to rename a lot of items one by one, and if you sort them not by name but by e.g. modified date then they don't jump about as you rename one to the next.

That's probably the best that can be done through existing means but would constantly switch back and forward between two search results and lose file selections and if done by shortcut lose any existing filter, so the kind of situation the new idea is to avoid... having a single results list view ...

Few things are more annoying than dragging a file and accidentally passing a shortcut to an offline network drive or executable, whereupon it hangs for ages before releasing you to continue. It's just done it now in Everything much as happens in Explorer.

I've set tabs_load_in_background=true because usually I'll want that, although I can see cases where background is useful, such as if you ctrl-drop several folders one-by-one onto the folder bar title. Perhaps I'll end up making a toggle shortcut if there proves a need ...

That's certainly a good speed for both.

I can say from VBA that the simple wildcard "Like" function is vastly faster than the Regex function, which becomes important when it has to be applied millions of times. I suspect what's needed is a universal setting that affects everything, that can then be tied to a shortcut (directly or via bookmark).
