when you type content: it starts searching through contents for a zero-length string, which is a redundant action, I think content: should be ignored if its parameter has no length, and only start looking when there is a parameter.

I use the tab to go from one item rename to the next all the time, I simply would die without it :) :) Its use becomes apparent when you want to rename a lot of items one by one, and if you sort them not by name but by e.g. modified date then they don't jump about as you rename one to the next.

That's probably the best that can be done through existing means but would constantly switch back and forward between two search results and lose file selections and if done by shortcut lose any existing filter, so the kind of situation the new idea is to avoid... having a single results list view ...

Few things are more annoying than dragging a file and accidentally passing a shortcut to an offline network drive or executable, whereupon it hangs for ages before releasing you to continue. It's just done it now in Everything much as happens in Explorer.

This hasn't occurred for me before and isn't repeatable but it may stimulate thinking that gives some idea of what could have been happening.
