Filters are separate from your search. Changing your filter will leave your search untouched. This is by design. The advanced path_narrow setting controls this behavior.

Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> path_narrow
It should be off by default.



There is also an advanced path_ellipsis setting.

Folders can only be moved on the same volume.

When you move a folder to another volume, the new folder must be created, files copied to the new location and the old folder deleted.

Instead of seeing a Folder Move action, you'll see the Folder Create action and the Folder Delete action.

No, I'm still forcing a "1.5a" instance name for data and setting filenames while in Alpha.

Consider launching Everything 1.4 in a "1.4" instance:

I must have clicked to run as admin then at some point. Why would I have done that?
Older versions (1.4.1.895) would prompt to run as administrator if the Everything Service was stopped.

It's likely the Everything Service was stopped at some stage and you clicked OK to run as administrator.
