Support for ETP\FTP command OPTS UTF8 OFF ?

Post by 1nd1g0 »

Foreign users definitely need ETP\FTP server support for command OPTS UTF8 OFF (a few ftp-clients support unicode for non-european charset correctly, others - do not For example, Total Commander shows garbage instead of names. This command turnes the names to 8-bit and many ftp-clients will read this well.)

I am aware of the issue of clients that do not support utf-8.

Using the correct code page for these clients is on my "Things to do" list.

Thanks for your suggestion.

You are welcome. Everything could turn cp1251 for cyrillic names, for example just after receiving the OPTS UTF8 OFF command from client. It's good idea to join this feature with GUI translation mechanism in case it's obvious that filenames and GUI at 99% degree have the same code page.
