icon click to show window and hide window

Post by rando »

I often click on the tray icon in order to hide "everything" and bring it back to system tray.
Unfortunately it doesn't work.

Would it be an idea having this feature:
- click on system tray icon: show "everything"
- click again on system tray icon: hide "everything"

Maybe having a right-click "minimize to tray" option would be better. If you allowed multiple windows, you idea wouldn't work very well.

Oh yes, that's true.
I use the "single window" version :-)

would be nice to have icon click to show/hide window for the single window version
and maybe a middle click on title bar to minimize window to tray.

I have re-written the tray icon interface..

When allow multiple windows is disabled, clicking on the tray icon will hide the everything window if it had focus.

To try it, please replace your Everything.exe with:
http://www.voidtools.com/Everything-1.2.1.432a.zip

To disable allow multiple windows:
  • In "Everything", from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the General tab.
  • Uncheck Allow multiple windows.
  • Click OK.
To change the tray icon to single click:
  • In "Everything", from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the View tab.
  • Check Single click tray from the Advance settings list.
  • Click OK.
Disabling allow multiple windows and single click tray icon will give the tray icon the same behavior as a taskbar button.
