Location and/or suppression of database?

I would like to index an NTFS truecrypt drive. Obviously the database file would be a security hole, so before I install, a couple of questions:
1) Is it possible to store the database on the drive (eg by running everything from the drive, is it a portable app?)
2) Or can I suppress the creation of the database
3) Any problems with mounted Truecrypt drives?
