Re: ETP connection drops after toggling main UI

Yay! That's super! One more thing, the help page states "Useful for keeping extended file information cached." I guess what that means is Everything doesn't need to re-run the last search when /home_search=0 . With simple searches on a modern computer the difference is minimal, but I suppose complex...

Re: ETP connection drops after toggling main UI

Aha! I think my confusion came from a misunderstanding on my part. So basically, Everything either uses a local database or the ETP server's database, but not both simultaneously. I intuitively expected Everything would merge local and server results, clearly that's not the case. It kind of makes se...

ETP connection drops after toggling main UI

I have configured a desktop computer as a server without user name or password, settings as follows: Everything version: 1.4.1.873b (x64) on both client and server. ETP server config: Port number: 21 (default), tested both with and without user name and password. Client: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit, Every...

Re: Full row select: Ctrl-click in blank of row

Just downloaded Everything v1.4.1.867b 64-bit (portable), the option to select whole rows is gone. I also notice a bunch of options missing in the Fonts and Colors sections, and Copy Name context menu entry is also gone, is this intentional?

FR: Show mouseover background for selected items

I'm currently running Version 1.4.0.713b (x64). This is only a small aesthetic request. Currently, the Mouseover background is not displayed on Selected items, please see below screen capture. My suggestion is for mouseover to have the highest precedence. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/98636804...

Re: FR: File metadata HOT!!

Just bumping my own thread, I wonder if there have been any developments regarding metadata. This feature would be killer among audio and video producers. Thank you!

Wildcards implementation counterintuitive

When using wildcards the entire filename is matched. Please make sure you use a * prefix and * suffix if you want to find a wildcard expression anywhere in the filename. I wouldn't have guessed that in a million years. My intuition simply told me that hello*world would match hello world and hellowo...

FR: File metadata HOT!!

I would like Everything to allow users to add metadata to files. This could be in the form of a single user-editable field, or even better, any number of fields, which could then be shown as columns in the search results pane and sorted just like the other fields. I guarantee that anyone who is invo...

CPU usage issues - Audio drop-outs ASIO sound card

Hi! I am a long-time Everything user and I've been holding onto v1.2.1.451 for a while waiting for the latest releases to provide similar functionality. Today I've tested v1.3.2.649b and functionallity-wise it's ready to replacy the old version on my system. I am really pleased to see that search hi...

Deleted files still shown when Exclude list used

Everything v1.3.2.645b on W7 32-bit with latest updates. I recently came across this bug after setting up an Exclude List. The purpose of the exclude list is to prevent recycled files from showing up in the search results thus reducing clutter. My exclude list settings look like this, and similar se...

Last Access Time and Run Frequency columns gone?

While I prefer the cleaner and clearer new UI, I really miss some of the features found in Everything v1.2.1.45x which I used for quite a long time (shown on the left in the screenshot below). I particularly miss the ability ability to display the Last Access Time and Run Frequency columns. Are ther...

Confirmed.
Also try the other bit I just added, i.e. setting up a Ctrl+<key> hotkey to toggle the Everything window. If the hotkey uses the Control key you should get the same problem. Thanks for confirming.

[FIXED] Column width reset when Control key held down

First of all many thanks for the v1.3.0.632b update, it is really encouraging to see that such a great app is still being developed. I downloaded Everything v1.3.0.632b two days ago and I immediately noticed this bug, which didn't happen with the previous version I used (v1.2.1.452a). The following ...

Re: Is Everything dead?

For me Everything is everything. If Everything cannot run on the next version of Windows e.g. Windows 8, then I will stay on Windows 7. It's funny how Microsoft, with their multimillion-dollar budget and thousands of developers, could not come up with anything better than the Windows built-in search...

Re: Any new version after 1.21.452a?

True, if it works it works. I have been using 451 for ages and I haven't experienced any problems. My fear is that Everything may not work under future versions of Windows, and there just isn't a substitute for Everything. All other file search apps I know of need to index the entire hard drive and ...

Everything is FINE don't touch it

I usually adhere to this well-known problem-solving flowchart: http://dangerousintersection.org/wp-content/uploads/2008/05/problem-solving-flow-chart.jpg The reason people download Everything is because it's fast, small and simple. The purpose of Everything is to find files, not to stare at its GUI....
